The Holy Metropolis of Ierissos, Mount Athos and Ardameri has the special honor in the holy lands of Halkidiki and in fact in the area of Gavriadia of Ierissos to have a wonderful chapel erected in the name of the Holy Apostle and Myrrh-bearer Mary of Magdalene, the woman who claimed to be the first to see our Risen Lord on the Holy Sepulchre, when she came with other Myrrh-bearing women on the Sunday after Holy Saturday to anoint the Most Holy Body with myrrh, as was the traditional custom among the Jews. So, on the feast day, Wednesday July 22, 2026, of Orthros and the Divine Liturgy, the Most Reverend Metropolitan of Ierissos, Mount Athos and Ardameri, Mr. Theoklitos, officiated the Agioritei Pan. Archimandrite Fr. Iosif Katunakiotis and the Superior of the Holy Church of Agios Nikolaos Ierissos Rev. Protopresbyter Fr. Ioannis Kotseas, also praying within the Holy Step the Pan. Father Nikodimos Kotinoudis.

I read with pleasure about the Exoklision of Gavriadia. Last year, when I was with my parents in Halkidiki, I passed by and was impressed by the tranquility of the place. I am glad that Metropolitan Theoklitos served with father Joseph from Mount Athos, and the hand of the Saint from Simonos Petra attracts so many people. Is there a special procession next year on July 22nd?

I also enjoyed reading it. Last year I fished close to Gavriadia with a friend from Ierissos and noticed the same tranquility you describe. I don't know how to make a special procession, but people come anyway for the hand of the Saint from Simonos Petra. Did you enter the little church or did you just watch from the outside?
