The Holy Icon of the Virgin of Akathistos Hymn from Mount Athos in Imbrostranslated

As part of the celebrations of the 1400th anniversary of the singing of the Akathistos Hymn in the Holy Church of the Virgin of Blacherna, the Holy Metropolis of Imbros and Tenedos will welcome to Imbros on Saturday, August 1, 2026, the Holy Icon of the Akathistos Hymn from Mount Athos. The announcement in detail:

It is brought to the knowledge of the pious Christians of our Holy Metropolis that in the context of the celebrations of the anniversary of the 1400 years since the eulogy of Akathistos Emmnos in the Holy Church of the Theotokos in Blachernais, it will be transferred from the Holy Place in our town the miraculous icon of the Virgin of Akathisto (in copy).

The Holy Icon is a blessing of the Holy Monastery of Saint Dionysios of Agios Ioros to our Holy Metropolis for the purpose and sanctification of the islands and our faithful.

The arrival and reception of the Holy Icon will take place on 1-8-2026, Saturday at 19:00 pm. to the Holy Metropolitan Church of Panagia, where the Great Vesper service will be sung afterwards.

Every day in the morning at 08:30 there will be the liturgy and the Divine Liturgy.

Every afternoon at 19:00 the evening service will end...
