Lonely Curate of two young Brothers at the Holy Hermitage "Holy Cross" Mapso Corinthiatranslated

With feelings of spiritual joy and praise to God, on Sunday July 5, 2026, in the Holy Sanctuary "Holy Cross", the lonely haircut of two new probationary Brothers took place during Vespers, which was celebrated by the Most Reverend Metropolitan of Corinth Mr. Pavlos. Amidst an overwhelming atmosphere, His Eminence gave one of the new girls the name Philothei, while the other the name Lydia, wishing both of them, having chosen the path of obedience, virginity and chastity, to practice with humility, prayer and love for God and the Church. In this engrossing I. Continuation, the Superioress of I. Hesychastiriou nun Ilaria and the I. Fraternity, as well as a number of pious pilgrims, attended.

The Reverend Pastor of Corinth, after congratulating Gerontissa and the escort of the Holy Hermitage for their fruitful spiritual work, wished the new nuns abundantly the grace of the Holy Spirit, so that they may remain steadfast in their holy promise, progress unceasingly in spiritual life and be bright examples of monastic polity.

I am glad that Filothei and Lydia got these names. The Hermitage of the Holy Cross in Mapso has always produced good nuns, Gerontissa Ilaria has done a good job. God bless them.

Thank God, Mykhailo. Philotea and Lydia are good names, it immediately comes to mind as St. Philotea helped the poor in Athens, and Lydia was the first European Christian. I wonder if such saints are often mentioned at church services in your parish?

As for the name, Lydia is often mentioned in our parish, but Philotea is new for many, so maybe it helps to differentiate her from her old life.
