Celebration of the millennium of the State of Athonia: Historical review of the founding of the I. Monastery of Megistis Lavratranslated

The celebration of the millennium of the State of Athonia was at the center of an event in Thessaloniki, with the writer Konstantinos Holeva making a historical review of the founding of the Holy Monastery of Megistis Lavra. The event was hosted at the Educational and Cultural Foundation of the Holy Metropolis of Thessaloniki.

The millennium of the State of Athonia was revived in an event held in Thessaloniki, on the occasion of the anniversary events held in Karyes and in the Holy Monastery of Megistis Lavra.

The aim of the event was to highlight the historical and spiritual importance of Mount Athos, as well as its timeless presence in the international community.

Special mention was made of the founding of the Holy Monastery of Megistis Lavra. The writer and political scientist Konstantinos Holevas made a historical review of the creation of the monastery by Saint Athanasios the Athonite, in collaboration with the emperor Nikephoros Phokas.
