Barnabas of Neapolis will lead the liturgy on August 23 at Panagia Sumela in Pontustranslated

At the historic monastery of Panagia Sumela in Trabzon, Pontus, on August 23, the Metropolitan of Neapolis and Stavroupolis, Mr. Varnavas, will be present, who will preside over the triarchial liturgy. His Holiness Mr. Varnavas was on Monday July 6th at Fanari where he was received for hearing by the Ecumenical Patriarch Mr. Bartholomew.

It is recalled that the Turkish authorities granted the required permits so that on the occasion of the celebration of the feast of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary, the following will be performed:

a) Divine Liturgy of the Superior of A.Th. His Holiness the Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew in the ruins of the Holy Monastery of Panagia Faneromeni in Artaki, Kyzikos, and

b) High Priestly Divine Liturgy at the St. Monastery of Panagia Soumela, in Trebizond.

Катерина АнгеловскаДобро е што турските власти дадоа дозвола за литургијата на 23 август во Сумела. Се надевам дека Митрополитот Варнава ќе ја води убаво и дека ќе има многу верници од Понт. Интересно што истиот ден Патријархот ќе служи во Артаки.

Alexandre LaurentC’est une bonne nouvelle que les autorités turques aient donné les permissions pour la liturgie du 23 août à Sumela. J’espère que Mgr Barnabas aura beaucoup de monde du Pont ce jour-là, surtout avec la fête de la Dormition. Intéressant que le Patriarche serve en même temps à Artaki.

Luke HallGood to see the Turkish authorities gave the go-ahead for both services on the 23rd. Metropolitan Barnabas leading at Sumela makes sense with the Dormition feast, though it’ll be interesting how many Pontic folk actually make the trip up there that day.

Васил СтефановДа, добре че са дали разрешение и за Суме ла. Варнава е енергичен владика, ще се справи, но наистина се чудя колко понтийци ще успеят да отидат чак до Трапезунд точно на 23-и. Ти мислиш ли, че повечето ще предпочетат Артаки с Патриарха?

Богдана ПетроваДа, и аз се чудя за същото – пътят до Трапезунд е доста по-дълъг и уморителен, особено с деца. Варнава наистина е енергичен, но мисля, че повечето понтийци ще изберат Артаки с Патриарха, защото там е по-достъпно. Ти какво смяташ, ще ходиш ли някъде от двете?
