"Karaiskakeia 2026": A timeless institution of memory and national pridetranslated

On Sunday, July 19, 2026, a memorial service was held in Skoulikaria Artas, birthplace of Georgios Karaiskakis, in memory of the great hero of the Greek Revolution of 1821, as part of the "Karaiskakia 2026" events. The prayer was performed by the Most Reverend Metropolitan Artis, Mr. Kallinikos, in the place where the general's bones are kept, paying tribute to his sacrifice, bravery and timeless contribution to the Struggle for Freedom.

The ceremony was attended by representatives of local authorities, institutions and associations, as well as a large number of residents and visitors, who honored with their presence one of the greatest military leaders of the Greek Revolution.

"Karaiskakeia" is a timeless institution of historical memory and national pride, highlighting the work and invaluable contribution of Georgios Karaiskakis to the national past and keeping alive his historical legacy to the younger generations.

Praying in Skolekaria where the bones of General Kariskakis are preserved always reminds me of the importance of preserving living history. Next year, 2026, I will try to go with my family to participate in the anniversary, especially since my son is at university studying the history of the revolution.
