Saint Juliata was of the lineage of the nobility in Iconium. She was baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus and acquired true nobility. She was widowed and refrained from remarrying, preferring to live in piety and work pleasing to God with her three-year-old son, Cyrix. When Domitian, the ruler of Lycaonia, began implementing the royal decrees regarding the persecution of Christians in the year 304 AD, she resorted to Salafism, preferring to give up all her material goods and endure the hardships of bitter exile rather than deny the Lord Jesus. But she found in that city a more turbulent situation in terms of persecution of Christians. The emperor’s envoy, called Alexandros, caused terror there and relentlessly subjected to torture and death all those who refused to submit to the royal decrees.
