Scientific Symposium on the Ecumenical Patriarch...translated

On Friday 25 and Saturday 26 September 2026, the Scientific Symposium on "The Ecumenical Patriarch Joachim III and the challenges of his time" was held in Thessaloniki.

The Symposium was held on the occasion of the completion of thirty-five years since the election of A.Th.P. of the Ecumenical Patriarch, Mr. Bartholomew on the Pansept Ecumenical Throne and was hosted in the Amphitheater of the Patriarchal Foundation for Patristic Studies and in the Hall of Events of the Holy Metropolis of Thessaloniki.

At the beginning, a message from the A.Th.P. of the Ecumenical Patriarch, Mr. Bartholomew, while a greeting was addressed by His Holiness the Metropolitan of Thessaloniki Mr. Philotheos.

The work was developed in four sessions, in which the following participated as speakers:

1st Session: Hon. Metropolitan of Miletus Mr. Apostolos, Rev. Metropolitan of Arkalochori, Kastelli and Viannos Mr. Andreas, Rev. Metropolitan of Seleucia Mr. Theodoros, Great Ecclesiastical Mr. Aetios Nikiforos and Archimandrite Timotheus Railakis Vrangas.

Second Session: Dimitrios Stamatopoulos, Panagiotis Tzoumerkas, Theoharis Anagnostopoulos and Emmanuel Xynadas.
