Knowledge on the road: The "Iosif Filagris" Mobile Library travels to the Municipality of Gortynatranslated

A library on four wheels and at the same time a mobile center of culture, love of reading and knowledge is what the Municipality of Gortyna is trying to create with the "Iosif Filagris" Mobile Library, with which it goes beyond the limits of traditional book lending, planning not only to have visitors, but the library itself to visit the villages, schools and communities of an eminently agricultural region. A region in which the distance from organized cultural infrastructures is often in itself an obstacle in terms of access to knowledge.

Loukas Ziaras, the person in charge of coordinating and operating the Mobile Library, spoke to APE-MPE about the project, which aspires to change this reality, by moving the library to where the citizens are and, above all, where the children are.
