Students of Philosophical Athens to Metropolitan Markos of Chiostranslated

Postgraduate and undergraduate students of the Department of Philology of the School of Philosophy of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, who are in Chios as part of the work of the HOMERIC ACADEMY Euroclassica, visited on Thursday 16 July 2026 the Most Reverend Metropolitan of Chios, Psara and Oinoussa and Markos in his office. During the visit, the Philologist Hierarch had the opportunity to discuss with the young scientists issues of Classical Studies and the necessity of promoting Philological Science both in Greece and in the European area, given its humanitarian character and its identity importance for the cultural identity of Greeks and Europeans in general.

His Eminence served the students a meal and presented them with an icon of the Virgin Mary and a series of philological and other publications of the Holy Metropolis.

The students belong to the scientific circle of the Professor of Latin Philology at the Philosophical University of Athens, Mrs. Sofia Georgakopoulou, a former fellow student of His Eminence and esteemed Collaborator of the Holy Metropolis of Chios.
