The festival of the Holy Church of Agioi Anargyros in Lefkadatranslated

With all magnificence and ecclesiastical splendor, the Holy Panegyris of the Glorious and Iamatic Anarchist Saints Cosmas and Damianus (those in Rome) was held again this year in the Holy Parish Church of the same name in the city of Lefkada. On the evening of Tuesday, June 30, 2026, a Great Solemn Vespers was chanted, with baked goods. Before the end of the Holy Service, the Sanctification Service was performed at the beginning of the new month of July. The divine speech was preached by the representative of His Eminence the Metropolitan of Lefkada and Ithaca Mr. Theofilos and Professor of the Holy Monastery of the Most Holy Theotokos of Faneromenis, Panosiology Archimandrite Fr. Nikiforos Asprogerakas.

On the morning of Wednesday, July 1, 2026, the Orthros was chanted and then the Solemn High Priestly Divine Liturgy was celebrated with a sacrificial offering, presided over by the Most Reverend Metropolitan of Lefkada and Ithaca Mr. Theofilos. In the Mystery of the Holy Eucharist, clergymen of the Lefkadas Archpriesty Region took part, while there were many pious believers who flooded the celebratory Holy Parish Church from early on. Happy birthday to Agioi Anargyros. Nice that they also did the Consecration for the new month of July after Vespers, it is something we are used to in our own parish. Father Nikiforos preached well, as always.

I agree Peter, the Consecration for July gives a nice start to the month. I especially liked that they did it right after Vespers, before the world broke up. And Father Nikiforos really speaks simply and to the point, as you say.

Yes, it’s good that hagiasmos immediately after Vespers - people don’t disperse and everything is calm. In Munich, they also do it more often in the morning, but then half of them are already at work. And Father Afanasy’s sermon is truly always to the point, without unnecessary stuff. Yes, Mr. Athanasius is just like that, nothing forced, just clear and calm. Here in Novi Sad, we always make Agiasma for the new moon after vespers, because that's when people come more easily after work. And does it seem to you that after vespers more world comes or less?
