The holy memory of Agios Parthenios was honored by the birthplace of Vatsouniastranslated

On Tuesday, July 21, 2026, the day on which our Church commemorates our holy father Parthenius, Bishop of Radovisdi, from Vatsouni, the Metropolitan of Thessaliotidos and Phanariofersalon, Mr. Timotheus, officiated at the procession of Orthros and then celebrated the Divine Liturgy in the celebrating Holy Church of the Saint in the Local Community Vatsounias, where the local Saint of our Church was born and grew up.

In his speech, he referred with particular emotion to the person of Saint Parthenius, underlining that his life is a permanent testimony of the active presence of the Holy Spirit in man who strives to live according to the will of God. It is not just a historical figure of the Church, but a man who deserved to become a vessel of divine Grace, because from a young age he chose to walk consistently on the path of spiritual life, continuously cultivating the gifts that God offers to all people.

It is good that Metropolitan Timothy spoke so directly about the daily work of the saint. Not just a historical figure, but a person who, from his youth, chose the path and cultivated the fruits of the Spirit in himself. In our garden too: if you don’t water and weed every day, nothing will grow.

I agree, Galina, it’s the same in my garden - without daily weeding, even the tomatoes are clogged by quinoa. And Saint Parthenius, apparently, was not lazy even in his youth, and so such a “garden” grew up. I wonder if your family also passes on some of his icons or stories from Watsunia?
