The feast of Saint Theophilos in Lefkadatranslated

On the morning of Wednesday, July 8, 2026, on the occasion of the feast of the memory of our Holy Father Theophilos of Zichni of Myrovlytos, a solemn Divine Liturgy of post-tortoclasis was held in the Holy Parish Church of Genesios Theotokos (Our Lady of the Strangers) of Lefkada, officiated by the Reverend Pastor of Lefkada and Ithakis Mr. Theophilou. The celebration took place with the participation of clergy from the Archpriestial Regions of Lefkada, Nydri - Meganisi, Karya - Sfakiot and Vasiliki - Agios Petros. The divine speech was preached by the Abbot of the Holy Monastery of Genesios the Holy Forerunner of Livadi, Karya Lefkada, His Holiness Archimandrite Fr. Christophoros Aravanis, referring, among other things, to the life and virtues of the celebrated Saint of our Church.

Although the Most Reverend Metropolitan Mr. Theofilos did not celebrate his nominations this year, nevertheless, from early in the morning, clergy and people rushed to participate in the Mystery of the Holy Eucharist and also to wish the Most Reverend Pastor "many, fruitful and blessed years".

It was nice to see so many priests from several areas (Nydri, Meganisi, Karya, Vasiliki) gathered at Panayia ton Xenon church. Father Christoforos' sermon about the life and virtues of Saint Theofilos stayed in my mind. May God keep Metropolitan Theofilos healthy, even if he did not want to celebrate the name day.
