The Exodus Procession of Blessed Gerontissa Makrina, Prioress of the Holy Monastery of Ligovitsitranslated

In an atmosphere of deep emotion, on the afternoon of Monday, October 26, 2026, the exodus procession of blessed Gerontissa Makrina, abbess of the Holy Dormition Monastery of the Dormition of the Virgin Ligovitsios Xiromeros, was held on the afternoon of the same day, at the age of 89, having dedicated her life to the ministry of God, the Church and human. The Exodus Procession was presided over by the Most Reverend Metropolitan of Aetolia and Acarnania, Mr. Damaskinos, while a multitude of Clergy from the Holy Metropolis of Aetolia and Acarnania and other Holy Metropolises participated, headed by the General Hierarchal Commissioner, Archim. Joseph Zografo.

Also participating were all the female monastic brotherhoods of the Holy Metropolis, the Mayor of Xiromero Mr. Ioannis Triantafyllakis and a number of believers from the wider area, who came to say goodbye to the late Gerontissa and to express their love and gratitude for her many years of spiritual contribution.
