Commemorative event for the Third Bulgarian Occupation and honorary distinction to the educator and researcher Dimitris Paschalidis, from the Youth Office of the Holy Metropolis of Drama. On the occasion of the anniversary of October 28, 1940, the Youth Office of the Holy Metropolis of Drama organized, on Saturday, October 24, 2026, at the Spiritual Center near the Episcopate, an event dedicated to the 3rd Bulgarian Occupation and the dramatic events that marked the area of Drama during the period 1941-1944.
The event sought to highlight aspects of a particularly difficult period of local history, shedding light on the conditions of the Occupation, the persecutions and trials suffered by the population of Eastern Macedonia and Thrace, and particularly of Drama, but also the importance of preserving historical memory for the younger generations.
Children from the youth synagogues of the Metropolis participated in the event and the program included narrative texts, projection of images and videos, songs and the theatrical act "The gift of memory", in which the memory was handed down by a grandmother to her granddaughter, through handwritten notes, photographs and personal testimonies.
