The emotion of Archbishop Hieronymos at the tomb of Saint Paisiostranslated

The Holy Monastery of Saint John the Theologian in Souroti, Thessaloniki was visited today at noon (12/07/2026) by the Archbishop of Athens and All Greece, Mr. Ieronymos, as part of his visit to Northern Greece. His Beatitude was welcomed by the familiar Pastor, Metropolitan of Kassandreia, Mr. Nikodimos, Archimandrite Synesios Stathis, as well as the Abbess of the Holy Monastery, Philothei Monkhi, together with the brotherhood.

The Archbishop expressed his thanks for the welcome and moved with emotion to the tomb of Saint Paisios of Agioreitos, which is located in the precincts of the Monastery. Afterwards, he had a short conversation with His Holiness, the fathers, the Abbess and members of the brotherhood.

Speaking on Public Television, the Archbishop emphasized that the life of Saint Paisios is an example to follow and invited everyone to maintain the humility of Saint Paisios and to pray.

In the afternoon, His Beatitude will go to Nea Karvali, Kavala, where he will attend the opening ceremony of the Holy Chapel of St. Paisios the Saint.

The Archbishop is accompanied to Northern Greece by Archdeacon Dimitrios Fokianos.

It is good that the Archbishop went to pray right at the grave of Saint Paisius. I remembered how last summer we were on a pilgrimage to Surovati and how quiet and peaceful one feels there. May we all keep a little of his humility, as he said.

Good that Archbishop Ieronymos went directly to the tomb of Saint Paisius. It reminded me of how I read a book with his advice on prayer and how simply he spoke. Let's achieve at least a little of that humility, as Velička also says.

I am glad that the Archbishop went straight to the tomb of Saint Paisius, just as Vеличка and Nicolae said. Last year I passed through Souroti with my husband and there was a peace that cannot be forgotten. I hope we manage to keep even a little bit of that humility that he left us.
