On the morning of Sunday, November 1, 2026, His Eminence the Metropolitan of Rethymno and Avlopotamos, Mr. Prodromos officiated at Orthros and then celebrated the High Priestly Divine Liturgy at the Holy Patriarchal and Holy Cross Monastery of Arkadi. The hymns of the Divine Liturgy were sung by the choir of male and female students of the Rizarei Ecclesiastical School, who these days are visiting Megalonisso Crete, in the presence of the Principal and Professors of the School.

The Divine Liturgy was also attended by a delegation of male and female students from the 6th grade of Stavromenos Primary School.

After the end of the Divine Liturgy and despite the adverse weather conditions, the Trisay was held in the historic Pyritidapothika of the Holy Monastery and the flame was lit from the dormant candle, which burns day and night at this point. The flame was received by male and female students of Stavromenos Primary School, who took it to Rethymno.

At 11:30 am on the same day, after a greeting from His Eminence and with the ringing of the bell of the Holy Monastery, the start of the 86th Arcadian Road was given, in which dozens of runners took part, despite the heavy rain.
