Chrysostomos of Eleftheroupolis: Prophet Elias holds a unique position in the Divine Economytranslated

With splendor and ecclesiastical order, the memory of the Holy Glorious Prophet Helios of Thesvitos was celebrated in the homonymous ancient and historical Holy Temple of the Old Court of Pangaios. On the main day of the feast, His Eminence the Metropolitan of Eleftheroupolis, Mr. Chrysostomos, officiated at the procession of Orthros and presided over the Divine Liturgy, surrounded by priests of the Holy Metropolis, in the presence of a multitude of pious believers from the wider region, who came to honor the great Prophet of the Old Testament.
The Divine Word was preached by His Holiness, referring to the unique position held by the Prophet Elijah in the history of the divine economy and in the life of the Church. He pointed out that the Prophet lived about eight centuries before the coming of the Lord Jesus Christ, emerged as an outstanding man of God and was highly honored by both the people of the Old Testament and the Church of the New Testament. He also recalled that, together with the righteous Enoch, he is one of the two people of the Holy Bible who did not taste physical death, but were transferred alive by God, a fact that testifies to his great holiness and special pride before the Lord.…
