On Saturday July 4, 2026, the day on which our Holy Church honors the memory of our holy father Andrew, Bishop of Crete of Jerusalem, the great hymn writer and poet of the Great Canon, the Most Reverend Metropolitan of Ioannina etc. Maximos went to the Holy Pilgrimage Church of the Patron Saint of the city of Ioannina, Agios Neomartyros Georgios, on the square of Pargis, where he officiated during the procession of Orthros and presided over the Divine Liturgy.

I'm glad to hear that Metropolitan Maximos went to Agios Georgios in Pargis Square. Saint Andrew of Crete with the Great Canon is one of my favorites, especially Great Lent. May he speak for us.

Yes, I'm glad he went there too, the church of Agios Georgios in Pargis is so close and warm. The Great Canon of St. Andrew has saved me many times in Lent, especially "my soul, my soul." May he speak for us all.

Good listening. Χαίρομαι που ο Μητροπολίτης Μάχιμος went to Άγιο Γεώργιο in the square of Παργης, the church is small but always full. The Great Canon of St. Andrew helps me in every season, especially when it comes to "my soul, my soul." Είθε να πρεσβεύει.

Yes, Fotini, the church in Pargis is indeed warm and close, I also went last year and immediately felt comfortable. "My soul, my soul" hits me every Lent, as if speaking to me personally. How do you usually use it, do you only read it or do you also have it in a book?

I agree, Sophia, “psyche mu” really hits you on the head every time. Here in Minsk, the priest also always emphasizes this particular part of the Great Canon. Do you try to read the entire canon or just individual troparia?

Yes, “psyche mu” really hits right in the heart, especially when the priest singles out. Here in Novosibirsk, at the Great Canon, we usually read the entire canon in parts over the first four days, and repeat the troparia to ourselves at home. What about you in Minsk? Do they take the entire canon for one service or stretch it out?

Yes, I also use “psyche mu” every time as a reminder, especially when the priest sings loudly. Here in Rostov, at the Great Canon, the entire canon is read in one service, only very slowly and with pauses. Do you repeat troparia at home in Minsk or do you only listen to them during services?
