On Sunday, July 19, 2026, the day on which our Holy Church honors the memory of the Holy Fathers of the Fourth Ecumenical Council, His Eminence Bishop Panaretos, Patriarchal Exarch of Lithuania, officiated at the Ukrainian-speaking Community of the Patriarchal Exarch of Lithuania. During his sermon, the Most Holy Theophilus referred to the Gospel reading of the day, underlining that the two blind men, even before they had the light of their physical eyes, had already acquired the light of faith, recognizing the awaited Messiah in the face of the Lord and exclaiming: "Have mercy on us, Son of David".

He then connected the message of the Gospel with the memory of the Holy Fathers of the 4th Ecumenical Council, emphasizing that, just as the two blind men were entitled to see Christ with the eyes of faith, so the God-bearing Fathers, enlightened by the Holy Spirit, freely confessed the truth about the person of our Lord Jesus Christ as perfect God and perfect man.
