When the Icon of Agios Nikodemos the Saint arrived in Naxos for the first celebrationtranslated

Today, July 14, our Church honors the memory of Saint Nicodemus Agioreitos, the enlightened teacher of the Church, as he has aptly been excluded. Saint Nicodemus the Saint surrendered his spirit to the Risen Lord at the dawn of July 14, 1809 in his cell in Karyes of Mount Athos, after various health adventures, at the age of 60. In 1955, the conscience of the Church included him in its canon, and he is honored by the faithful now on the day of his sleep.
Officially for the first time the memory of Osios was honored in his birthplace of Naxos after his canonization in 1955.
As can be seen in the photo published on the web page by Archimandrite Father Timotheus Iliakis, General Hierarchal Commissioner of the Holy Metropolis of Nea Ionia, Philadelphia, Heraklion and Chalkidon, the Icon of Saint Nicodemus of Agioreitos arrives in Naxos for the first solemn celebration of the Saint with the then floating means.
The first official celebration in his birthplace was a historic event for the Naxiotes, while his memory is celebrated with splendor every year on July 14 in his beautiful Holy Temple on the island. The photo shows the then...
