Kifissias Kyrillos at the Swearing-in of New Sergeants and Sergeants at the S.M.I.A.translated

The Deputy Minister of National Defense, Thanasis Davakis, attended today, Wednesday, July 8, 2026, the Swearing-in ceremony of the New Platoons and Sergeants of the 7th Series, held at the facilities of the Non-Commissioned Officers of Aviation School (SMYA), at the Dekelia Air Base, and awarded the degrees to the sworn-in. The Doxology was officiated by the Most Reverend Metropolitan Kyrillos of Kifissia, Amarousiou, Oropou and Marathon.

Present at the ceremony were the Chief of the GEA Lieutenant General (I) Demosthenes Grigoriadis, the Commander of the Air Training Command Lieutenant General (I) Marios Batouvas, the Commander of the School of Permanent Non-Commissioned Officers of Aviation Brigadier General (I) Christos Karamanis, Senior Officers of the Armed Forces, representatives of the Local Government and Agencies, of the Security Forces, active and retired Officers, as well as relatives of the new NCOs.

A total of 188 new NCOs graduated from the School. Specifically, 181 Sergeants and 7 Sergeants were sworn in (171 from Greece, 15 from Cyprus and 2 from Senegal).

The Deputy Minister of National Defense during his speech to the sworn-in said:

"I am very happy to be here again this year...
