Konitsa July 10-12: "In the Sanctified Achnaria of Agios Paisios"translated

And this year the Holy Diocese of Dryinoupolis, Pogoniani and Konitsa and the Municipality of Konitsa are co-organizing religious celebrations in honor of Saint Paisios the Agioreitos from Friday July 10 to Sunday July 12, 2026 according to the Program that follows. FRIDAY JULY 10, 2026

9:00 – 18:30: Visit to the House of St. Paisios and guided tour by clergy of the Holy Diocese of Dryinoupolis Pogoniani and Konitsi.

18:30 – 19:00: Transfer to the Church of Agia Barbara.

19:00 – 20:00: Prayer in honor of the Saint in the above Church.

20:15-21:45: Screening of a documentary on the life of Saint Arsenios and Saint Paisios entitled: "Light of Cappadocia" - produced by the Hellenic Foundation for Historical Studies.

SATURDAY JULY 11, 2026

Route from the stone bridge of Konitsa in the ravine of Aoos to the Monastery of Stomio (route distance 5 km). It is possible to follow the old path, where Osios used to pass.

07:30 – 10:30: Orthros and Divine Liturgy in the First Church of St. Paisios in the First Monastery of Panagia Stomio.

10:30 – 12:30: Guided tour of the St. Stomion Monastery and the cell of the Saint.

19:00 – 20:30: Great Polyarch...

This year I am thinking of going on Saturday for the march from the stone bridge to the Stomio Monastery. 5 km is not much, and I would like to walk the old path that Agios used to walk. I will also see the program for Sunday, in case I stay for the Divine Liturgy as well.

The old path from the stone γεφύρι to the Monastery of Stomium sounds beautiful, Διμητρα και Andreea. Last time I went 5 km. that Saturday and then I stayed for the visit to the Lord's cell - I rested a little, but I did. If the weather doesn't get too hot, I'll do it again.

Yes, Andreea, that 5 km route on the old path on which the Saint used to walk is completely different than a simple walk. I did it two years ago with my 3-year-old boy in the back and it was the most beautiful moment of the entire visit. If you come on Saturday, let me know, maybe we can meet at the stone bridge and walk together.

As for the water, yes, the springs are still clean, we always pour it into a plastic bottle and drink it without any problems. Are you also thinking about the Liturgy in Stomion this year?
