"Dimitria 2026" – 22nd day with Fr. Evangelos Papanikolaou: "Christ, the physician of our souls and bodies"translated

The parish festivities under the name "DIMITRIA 2026" continued on Sunday, October 18, 2026, for the 22nd day, at the Holy Church of Agios Dimitrios, Municipality of Agios Dimitrios. In the afternoon, as part of the festive events, a speech was given by the Most Reverend Protopresbyter Fr. Evangelos Papanikolaou, on the topic: "Christ, the physician of our souls and bodies".

Fr. Evangelos, in his inspiring speech, referred to the true healing of man, which is not limited to physical health, but primarily concerns his soul and heart. Through the teaching of the Holy Fathers and personal experiences from his medical and spiritual ministry, he showed that essential healing is accomplished through repentance, humility, prayer and the grace of the Holy Spirit.

Referring to Saint Seraphim of Sarov and his conversation with Motovilov, he emphasized that true spiritual knowledge is not the result of human intellectual effort, but the fruit of divine grace. He characteristically emphasized: "This is the healing of the soul. To take out the wrong things, the snakes, to heal them."
