His Eminence the Metropolitan of Rethymno and Avlopotamos, Mr. Prodromos, on the afternoon of Friday, November 6, 2026, welcomed Mrs. Maria Karystianou, President of the "Hope for Democracy" Movement, who was accompanied by her colleagues, in the Episcopate, as part of her two-day visit to Rethymno. During the meeting, His Eminence discussed with Mrs. Karystianou current issues, with particular reference to the 160th anniversary of the Arcadian Voluntary Sacrifice. He underlined the need for our heroes to always be a source of inspiration and to constantly illuminate the paths and choices of our lives.
On the occasion of the visit, His Eminence offered Mrs. Karystianou anniversary gifts regarding the historic Holy Monastery of Arkadiou.
