Autopsy L. Mendoni in three important churches of Amorgostranslated

The Minister of Culture Lina Mendoni accompanied by the Superintendent of Antiquities of the Cyclades Dimitris Athanasoulis and the Head of the Directorate for the Maintenance of Ancient and Newer Monuments Maria Mertzani performed an autopsy on three important churches of Amorgos. The Ministry of Culture, through the Ephorate of Antiquities of Cyclades and the Directorate of Conservation of Ancient and Modern Monuments, completed the study and conservation of these particularly remarkable post-Byzantine wood-carved icons, together with their icons.
These are the following:
1. The iconostasis of the Holy Apostles, which dates back to 1901 and is the work of the excellent sculptor Ioannis Maiasis, with images of Iakovos Amorgios and Iakovos Moschos, from 1707.
2. The iconostasis of the Zoodochos Pigi, from the second half of the 17th century with images of Jacob the Hieromonk, Jacob the Amorgeus as well as Sifnian painters. It is about the temple which belonged to the great family of the Gavrads.
3. The iconostasis of the right aisle of the Metropolitan Church, of Saint John the Theologian, from the year 1903, the work of the Amorgian woodcarver Konstantinos Prasinos, with images of the Amorgian painters Antonis and Georgios Kokkinos, the priest...
