Memorial Mass at the Rethymno Camp for the dead prisoners of the V Cretan Divisiontranslated

On the morning of Friday, July 10, 2026, Rev. Metropolitan of Rethymno and Avlopotamos, Mr. Prodromos, responding to the kind invitation of Lieutenant Colonel Mr. Emmanuel Mourtzakis, Commander of the 548th Infantry Battalion and Supreme Commander of the Rethymno Guard, went to the Rethymno Camp and held a Memorial Service in memory of the dead prisoners of the "V Division Cretans", who ended martyrdom and in hardship in July 1941 in Larissa. After the Memorial Ceremony, which was also attended by the Deputy Governor of Rethymno, Mrs. Mary Lionis, the Thematic Deputy Governor of Transport and Communications of the Region of Crete, Mr. Michalis Sarris, as well as representatives of the Security Forces, there followed a related speech about the sacrifice of the men of the "V Division of Crete" in Larissa and, at the end, a memorial feast.
