October 11: Saint Philip, one of the seven Deacons, celebratestranslated

Today the Church honors the memory of Philip the Apostle, one of the seven Deacons and the bishop of Nicaea Theophanos the poet. Saint Philip came from Caesarea in Palestine and is counted among the seven deacons of the first Church of Jerusalem.
He preached the Holy Gospel in Samaria, where he baptized a Christian and Simon the magician. Then, on his way, he met the Ethiopian eunuch of Queen Candace, whom, after indoctrinating him in the Orthodox Faith and the confession of the true Triune God, he baptized him a Christian. Subsequently, with his teaching he convinced almost all the inhabitants of Trallea to believe in Christ and to be baptized in the name of the Triune God.
In the city of Trallea, after building a church and organizing the Christian community, he surrendered his soul to God.
The Twelve Apostles and their associates, such as Philip the Deacon, laid the foundations for the establishment of local Churches with the ordination of Bishops and Elders, as well as the spread of the Holy Gospel, in accordance with Christ's command "Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit"...
