Petras Gerasimos: The Lord shows us the golden ratio of our own behaviortranslated

On Sunday II Luke, October 4, Rev. Metropolitan of Petra and Herronissos, Mr. Gerasimos officiated at the Holy Church of the Annunciation of the Theotokos Kroustas. Speaking about the Gospel passage, he emphasized:
"The Lord shows us, through the Gospel passage we just heard, the golden ratio of our own behavior: we should behave exactly in the same way that we want others to treat us.
The rule of social life dictates to us: what bothers us, we should not do to others. But this is not exactly what Christ says. If we tried to do to others what pleases us, how much better our society would be. Let's look at the phenomenon of violence, which is spreading to an alarming extent these days, especially among young people. There would be no thefts, no injustices, no slanders. Can you imagine that?
Who among us wants to be wronged, slandered, robbed, criticized? That is why Christ tells us that the first step, if we want to be as He wants us to be, sons of God by grace, is this: What we want to be done to us, we should also do to others.
