Gerontissa Hypantia: The Prohibition of the Forbidden Fruit, the Genesis of Freedom and the Death of Deathtranslated

As part of the International Scientific Conference on "The Holy and Great Synod of the Orthodox Church (2016-2026): Assessments and Prospects", Gerontissa Hypantia Abbess of the Holy Monastery of Solan spoke. The proposal in detail:
In the encyclical of the Holy and Great Synod of the Orthodox Church, the chapter referring to the importance of fasting begins with a quote from Basil the Great; 3; PG 31, 168A). To which future fullness does the verse of the book of Genesis 2, 17 lead us? "But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, you shall not eat of it; if you eat of it in the day, you shall surely die."
Thus, in the French edition of the Bible School of Jerusalem, the learned editors chose the wording: "you will become subject to death", that is: "you will become mortal".
