The feast of Saints Dionysios and Bishops in the Metropolis of Kinshasatranslated

July 9, 2026 · 1 min read

Today, July 9, 2026, the Chapel of the Kinsasa Metropolis celebrates the memory of the Holy Fathers Dionysios the orator and Metropolitan, where in the morning a High Priestly Divine Liturgy was celebrated by the Most Reverend Metropolitan of Kinsasa Mr. Theodosios. Collaborating with him were the Protosygellos Archim. Gerasimos and Archdeacon Paisios. Associates of the Metropolis and Students of the Theological School sang the sequence of the Saints and the Divine Liturgy.

The Metropolitan referred to the virtues that adorned the figures of the saints and wished them a good imitation of their virtues. He thanked the donor of this Holy Church, Mrs. Maria Perou and her relatives. The Metropolitan also referred to his predecessors Archpriests Ignatius and Nikiforos who were true monks, people of prayer and Holy services, with the result that in the first years the daily services were held in the living room of the Metropolis and then during blessed Nikiforos this small chapel was built which is the place of rest for the Metropolitan and his associates.

Thanks for the article. I liked how the Metropolitan talked about his forerunners, Ignatius and Nicephorus, who served in the salon at the beginning - it's like I can see how this small chapel was born from true prayer. May Saints Dionysius and Mitrofan help us to have the same patience and peace.
