Protopresbyter Fr. Georgios Efthymiou, Professor Emeritus of the Theological School of Athens, has fallen asleeptranslated

The Holy Archdiocese of Athens is saddened to announce the excommunication of the blessed Protopresbyter Mr. Georgios Efthimios, former Vicar of the Holy Entry Chapel of the Virgin of Kapnikarea. The Blessed was born in Athens on March 23, 1947, studied at the School of Theology of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, from which he received a doctorate and served as an Assistant Research Associate and Lecturer and Emeritus Professor.
He was ordained a deacon on November 29, 1987 under the blessed, then Bishop and later Metropolitan, Mr. Evripos Vasilios and a Presbyter on December 4, 1987 under the blessed Archbishop of Athens and all Greece, Mr. Seraphim.
As an Elder he served from his ordination at the Holy Church of Agios Nikolaos Chalandrios and later at the Holy Entrance Chapel of the Theotokos of Kapnikarea, while for a number of years he was a member of various Synodal Committees of the Holy Synod of the Church of Greece.
He stood out throughout his priestly career for his rich and selfless pastoral work.
