Dendias to Jordanian Ambassador: Our priority is the protection of Christian populations in the Middle Easttranslated

October 26, 2026 · 1 min read

The need to protect the Christian populations in the Middle East, which remains a priority for Greece, was underlined by the Minister of National Defense, Nikos Dendias, during a telephone conversation he had with the Jordanian ambassador to Greece, Zuhair Ensour, after the attack on the Greek Orthodox Church of Agios Georgios in Karak, Jordan. Mr. Dendias expressed his deepest condolences to the victims of the attack, as well as his solidarity with Jordan and its people at this difficult time.

At the same time, he emphasized that Jordan is an example of peaceful coexistence between different religions, pointing out that extreme elements should not be allowed to disrupt this long-standing symbiosis.

The communication between the Minister of National Defense and the Jordanian ambassador took place following the telephone conversation he had with the Patriarch of Jerusalem Theophilos III.
