Divine Liturgies resume at the monastery of Apostolos Andreas in occupied Cyprustranslated

July 3, 2026 · 1 min read

From the day after tomorrow, Sunday, July 5, the established Divine Liturgies, which are held every first Sunday of the month, will resume at the occupied monastery of Apostolos Andreas Iera located on the cape of the same name on the Karpasia peninsula, according to an announcement by the Office of the Commissioner of the Presidency, in which it is noted that the services had been suspended for more than two months. The resumption of Sunday Masses at the Monastery, it is added, was made possible following the decisive and personal intervention of the President of the Republic of Cyprus towards the Turkish Cypriot side.

The unimpeded exercise of religious rights, respect for places of worship and the ability of believers to access them are matters of utmost importance, it is noted, which the Office of the Commissioner of the Presidency will continue to monitor consistently and responsibly, it states.
