Festive High Priestly Divine Liturgy on the feast day of Saint Sophronius of Essex was held today, Saturday 11 July 2026, at the Holy Monastery of Komnenon, Xanthi. The Divine Liturgy was presided over by the Most Holy Bishop of Polystylos, Mr. Sophronios, who also led his namesakes.

Right after and until late in the afternoon, the Most Holy Theophilus accepted the wishes of the faithful who came to the Holy Monastery.

As for the bread with prosphora in Komninon - I don't know, I haven't been there, but I wonder if anyone there baked anything special for this occasion.

In Warsaw, for such occasions, I always make a simple yeast cake with poppy seeds, because the cheesecake is too heavy for me. As for Komninon, someone actually brought home-made cookies with honey, but the bread with prosphora was the most important.
