Serron Theologos: "The Synod Church is a name"translated

In the holy Church of St. Dimitriou Terpnis officiated Rev. Metropolitan of Serres and Nigrite Mr. Theologian, on Sunday July 19, 2026, the day on which our holy Orthodox Church liturgically honors the memory of the 630 God-giving Fathers, who constituted the Fourth Ecumenical Synod in Chalcedon (451 AD). Pastor of the Church of Serres, Mr. Theologos, spoke inspiringly to the large congregation, about the greatest contribution of today's brilliantly celebrated God-bearing Fathers, who, as he characteristically noted, excelled and shone, like bright stars, contributing the most to the formation of the doctrine of confusion and indivision while the two natures, the divine and the human, in the theandrian person of the Lord and Savior of the world, Jesus Christ and in the unity of the ecclesiastical Body.

Thank you, Bishop Theologos said well about the unity of the Church. I especially remember that “Εκκλησία συνόδου έστιν όνομα” - that’s for sure, without the councils we would not now know how to correctly confess the two natures of Christ. In Kazan, we also commemorated the fathers of the Council of Chalcedon at the liturgy, but this is the first time I’ve heard about this phrase.

Yes, I remembered this phrase "Ἐκκλησία συνοδου ἔστιν ὄνομα". Indeed, without those 630 fathers in Chalcedon, we would still be confused as to how to properly speak of the two natures in Christ. In our Lviv church, they were also commemorated on Sunday, and after the liturgy, I also brought dumplings with cheese to the common table.

Yes, the phrase "Ἐκκλησία συνοδου ἔστιν ὄνομα" is really apt. Here in Lviv, in Sikhiv, after the liturgy, these fathers were also remembered, and then I brought my bread to the common table - it turned out delicious with dumplings. What church did you attend?
