Michail Zeniou: The Reserve Second Lieutenant who sacrificed himself for Cyprustranslated

Fifty-two years have passed today since the day the hero Michael Zeniou, the Reserve Second Lieutenant, fell fighting during the Turkish invasion, who was killed by Turkish fire during the second phase of the invasion, the so-called "Attila II". Raised in the Greek Orthodox faith and full of vision and hope for his country, Martyriki Cyprus, he sacrificed himself so that it would not fall into the hands of lawless people. For 27 years he remained a hero whose remains had not been found. In 2001 he was identified and buried with honors from the Church and the State.

The origin The hero Michael Zeniou was born in the village of Trulloi in Larnaca in 1947. He studied at the elementary school of Trulli.

Child of a large family of ten children of Zenios and Maria, he was brought up in an environment with a rich spiritual life, with deep faith in God and genuine love for his country.

That is why, at the age of only 11, he took the oath and became a member of ANE, that is, the Alkimos Youth of EOKA, which was the hope of the National Liberation Organization of Cyprus.

When he had to go to high school, he moved to Nicosia so that he could attend the Pancypriot High School. It wasn't there...
