Petras Gerasimos: The life of Saint Kyriaki was connected with the Lordtranslated

July 9, 2026 · 1 min read

On Monday, July 6, Rev. Metropolitan of Petra and Herronissos Mr. Gerasimos officiated at the Solemn Vespers held at the Holy Church of Agia Kyriaki of Potamion Parish. Speaking about the life of Parthenomyros, he noted: "She was called Sunday because she was born on such a day. She was connected to the Lord in her life, despite the fact that it was short. When she grew up and distinguished herself for her kindness, kindness and her many mental gifts which her parents also made sure to give her, but also the grace of God, which through her prayer poured abundantly on her, she also had physical beauty. A pagan saw her and wanted to make her his wife. However, Agia Kyriaki, having made the decision to dedicate herself to the Lord, did not give in despite his pressures. Her Christian identity was revealed and she was led to martyrdom unwavering, unshakable, fearless.

Vladyka Gerásimos said it well that Saint Kyriaké was united with the Lord from her name and throughout her short life. What appealed to me the most was how she persevered in her decision to consecrate herself to Christ, even when she was being pressured into marriage. Such firm faith at such a young age really stops a person.

Yes, Vladyka definitely noticed - they gave her a name in honor of Sunday, and her whole life turned to the Lord. I was also amazed how in her youth she did not succumb either to her beauty or to persuasion to marry a pagan. This firm decision at this age really makes you think.

Yes, Bishop Gerasimos said well about the name - she was born on Sunday and turned to the Lord throughout her short life. I was also touched by how in her youth she did not give in to either her beauty or the pressure of marriage. Firm faith in such years is strong.

Yes, Vladyka definitely said about the name - she was born on Sunday and turned her whole life to the Lord. I was also touched by how in her youth she did not flinch either from her beauty or from the pressure with this pagan. Firm faith in such years, yes, makes you think about your own.

Yes, Konstantin, I definitely noticed about the name - she was born on Sunday and turned her whole life to the Lord. I was also surprised how in her youth she resisted both her beauty and this pagan. In our family, our daughter is just at the age when she’s already asking questions, so we’re thinking about how to convey to her such firmness in faith. Do you have children?

Yes, Konstantin, this is exactly what catches you - in such young years you cannot succumb to flattery or threats. Sometimes my baked goods make my head spin: it seems sweet, but inside I need it to be strong, like her faith. What do you think helps most in our time to maintain such firmness?
