I always liked how they carry the icon in procession after the Great Vespers. My wife and I were in Myrina a few years back and caught the eve service — the singing stayed with me. Hope the weather holds for the July 26th evening liturgy.

The icon procession after Vespers really is something special there. We were in Myrina the summer before last and the choir's "Agios Panteleimon" hymn during the litany still plays in my head when I water the garden. Did you and your wife stay right in town or out by the beach?

The procession really does make the evening feel alive, doesn't it? We try to get to that Vespers every year if we can. Did the choir sing the same slow "Agios Panteleimon" melody that they used when we visited in '23?

We made it to the litany too that year — the way the whole town turns out with candles is hard to forget. We stayed in a little apartment right in town, just a short walk from the church, which made everything easier. Did the choir sing the same hymn both nights or was that only for the procession?

It is interesting that in Myurin, after Great Vespers, the icon is always carried out in the religious procession. Here in Yaroslavl they do the same for Panteleimon, only the choir sings a little faster. Does anyone know what year the last time a bishop was there at the liturgy on the 27th?

Yes, the icon procession after Great Vespers is really beautiful. Here in Iași, at Saint Pantelimon in Păcurari, we do the same, except that people come with small lanterns from their houses, not with large candles. Did the bishop serve there in 2024 as well?

With us in Podgorica on Sv. Panteleimon in Sastavci, after high vespers, they also bring out the icon and litigate through the alley. It's nice when the whole village gathers with candles. It is interesting to me, was the archbishop at the liturgy on July 27 last year?

The procession after Vespers does have a way of sticking with you. We made it to that same eve service back in 2019 and the choir's slower tempo on the litany still comes to mind when I’m weeding the tomatoes in the backyard. Did you and your wife catch the full Orthros the next morning too?

We stayed in that same little apartment block near the harbor one summer—five-minute walk and you’re right in the middle of everything. The litany with all the candles is something else, isn’t it. I think the choir used the same hymn for both the Vespers and the procession that year, but the Orthros on Monday morning had different ones. Did you catch the bishop’s sermon?
