Ordination of a Deacon in the Holy Metropolis of Artistranslated

July 4, 2026 · 1 min read

During the Divine Liturgy held on Saturday, July 4, 2026, in the morning, at the Parish Church of the Holy Apostles in the city of Artis, the Most Reverend Metropolitan of Artis, Mr. Kallinikos, ordained the Monk Konstantinos (Fanti) a Deacon. In his address to the ordained, His Holiness referred to the Sacrament of Priesthood and the ministry of the Deacon, emphasizing that the Church continues its mission through people who respond to God's call and dedicate their lives to worship, prayer and the ministry of His people.

Before the dismissal of the Divine Liturgy, His Eminence wished the new Deacon a fruitful and blessed ministry, while Fr. Konstantinos accepted the wishes of the Holy Clergy and the congregation.

In Kazan we also have deacon Konstantin. He served in the Church of St. John the Baptist last winter, when the snow was knee-deep. How is he now as an archdeacon?

I am glad for the new deacon Konstantin in Arta. In Kazan, we also have our own father, Konstantin, who served in the winter in the Church of John the Baptist, when the snow was knee-deep - I remember how he went out in such cold weather. It’s interesting how they conduct the diaconal service there in Greece, probably completely differently.

I'm glad for Konstantin's father, Valentin. In Yekaterinburg, too, in the winter in our church there is snow up to our knees, and the deacons go out into the cold in the same way. And in Greece, probably, the main thing is to have a voice, because the services there are long and hot. How is your Kazan Konstantin serving now?

I'm glad for Konstantin, Mikhail. In Yaroslavl we don’t have sugar in winter either, especially when there is a draft in the altar. And your Kazan Konstantin is now a deacon? How are his first services given to him?

What joy for the new deacon Constantine in Arta. I noticed that Metropolitan Kallinikos spoke about the mystery of ordination and how the Church moves forward with people who respond to God's call. I hope your service is full of fruits, as the bishop wished you at the end.

We also have deacon Konstantin serving in Samara, but in a different church. I wonder how your Kazanian is now an archdeacon - is this a promotion or just a new position under the metropolitan? Tell me if you know.

I am glad for the new deacon Konstantin in Arta. In Novosibirsk, it’s also cold in the altar in winter, especially when the doors are opened, but here in Greece, probably, the main thing is not to overheat during a long service. It’s interesting how the first services are given to him after his consecration.

I’m glad for your Kazan father Konstantin, Valentin. In Yaroslavl, too, in winter, snow covers the porch in the Church of St. Elijah, but the Greek deacon probably works more with warmth and incense rather than with felt boots. How is yours now, is he still serving at Predtechenskoe?

We also have deacon Konstantin serving in Nizhny, but in a different church. Olga, is your Kazan Konstantin himself a monk, like this new one in Art, or has he been in the white clergy for a long time? It’s interesting how things usually happen with them when they become archdeacons.

Marina, our Kazan Konstantin has been in the white clergy for a long time, he was not a monk. And the transition to archdeacon, as far as I know, most often depends on how much a person is needed in this particular role under the bishop - this has not yet happened in our diocese. Has this deacon Konstantin been serving in Nizhny for a long time?
