Today, July 12, 2026, Sunday of Matthew VI, Rev. Our Metropolitan, Mr. Chrysostomos, according to his announced program, officiated at Othros and performed the Divine Liturgy at the Church. Metropolitan Church of the Holy Forerunner of Symi, with co-officials the General Hierarchal Commissioner, Protopr. Fr. Stefanos Makri, Vicar of the Church and Hierodeacon Fr. Pavlos Terezakis. The ἱ. Hymnody was given sweetly by the Hyeropsaltes Mr. Demosthenes Giannaras after the son of Mercury and Mr. Nikolaos Kambylis, among others.

Among the numerous believers, the Great Benefactor of our Holy Metropolis and Archon Exarch of the Holy Great Church of Christ, His Eminence Mr. Athanasios Martinos, who is currently in Symi, joined the church. Rev. Our Pastor, Mr. Chrysostomos, as a hospitable Host, welcomed Mr. Martinos, once again expressing the right of the Church to praise, as well as his personal thanks for his invaluable support to our local Church, offering him as blessing, small hagiographed Icon of our Grand Master Michael of Panormitos.

Good thing it was και ο κ. Martínos in Symi. The image of Τάξιάρχη Μιχαήλ that του άραισαν is a beautiful eulogy, I have also seen it in Πανόρμιτο. Οι ψάλτες με τον γιο του Δημοσθένη did a good job, like the good old days.

It was nice to see Mr. Martinos there again. That little icon of the Taxiarch Michael from the Panormitis must have meant a lot to him. The chanters with Demosthenes and his son Mercurius sounded just right, like the old Sundays I remember.

Yes, Martinos comes regularly, and his help is tangible - especially with repairs. The icon of Panormitian Michael is really out of place; in Samara we have a similar one hanging at the altar. And Demosthenes and Mercury sing together more often on major holidays; on ordinary Sundays, the son does not always go to Sima.
