On the afternoon of Wednesday, September 16, 2026, the Most Reverend Metropolitan of Thessaly, Mr. Timotheus, officiated at the Vespers service, in honor of the holy memory of the Holy and glorious Martyr Sophia and her three daughters, Faith, Hope and Love, in the homonymous Church of the Local Community of Platanos, Farsala. During his speech, His Holiness referred to the profound importance of the honor of Saints and Martyrs in the life of the Church, pointing out that their memory is not just an opportunity to express our honor and respect to these holy persons. The essential purpose is to bring before us the Saints as "friends of Jesus Christ", to get to know their life and experience, to learn from their example and, as a conclusion of this teaching, to ask for their embassies.

In the ecclesiastical season of the feast of the Universal Exaltation of the Holy and Life-giving Cross, the message of sacrifice and martyrdom becomes even more alive and essential.
