July 24, 2026 · 1 min read

On Thursday, July 16, the Board of Directors of the Kirkis Cultural Association visited the Most Reverend Metropolitan of Maroneia and Komotini, in a climate of cordial communication and spiritual edification. During the visit, the President of the Association, Mrs. Vassiliki Pantelidou, presented to His Excellency an honorary plaque, as a small token of gratitude for his constant paternal love, care and undivided support for Kirki and the Cultural Association. At the same time, he offered him as a memento a faithful copy of the historical invitation to the celebration of the Holy Church of Agios Nektarios Kirkis, honoring the ecclesiastical and historical legacy of the place.

His Eminence warmly congratulated the Kirkis Cultural Association for its rich cultural, social and voluntary actions, expressing his satisfaction for the work being done for the benefit of the local community and the preservation of the historical memory and cultural heritage of the region.

Nice visit, the plaque and copy of the invitation to Saint Nektarios is a nice idea. I am glad that His Holiness gave a blessing for the icon of Our Lady of Kirkaliotissa, I will wait to see how it turns out. The Association does work that counts.

I am glad that Vasiliki Pantelidou gave him that copy of the invitation for Agios Nektarios, it is nice that it reminds of the old festival. It's also good that he got a blessing for the icon of Panagia Kirkaliotissa, I'm waiting to see it when they make it. The Association keeps things alive that would otherwise be forgotten.

I thought the copy of the invitation for Saint Nektarios was a very nice idea, so it reminds everyone how the festival started. I am glad that His Holiness also gave a blessing for the icon of Panagia Kirkaliotissa, I am waiting to see it when it is finished. The Association is doing a really good job.

I agree, the copy of the St. Nectarius feast invitation is a really nice idea. Here in Olomouc, we also occasionally display something similar to remind people of the beginnings. And I'm also curious about the icon of Panagia Kirkaliotissa, how it will turn out.

I agree, that replica of the old invitation is a nice touch — it really brings back memories of the Saint Nectarios festival from when I was younger. The icon of the Panagia Kirkaliotissa should be special too; I hope they place it in the church where everyone can light a candle in front of it. Have you been to any of the cultural club's events this summer?

That replica really does pull you right back to those summer festivals, doesn't it? I remember helping set up the tables for the Saint Nectarios panegyri a few years back. Haven't made it to any club events this summer yet—how about you, any good ones so far?

That replica does bring the old festival right back—I still have my own copy from years ago tucked in a drawer. The new icon sounds like it'll be a good addition to the church. I caught their folk dance night last month; the turnout was solid, you should check the next one.

That replica of the old invitation really hits home—I keep mine in the kitchen drawer next to the prayer book and pull it out every St. Nectarios feast. The new icon of the Theotokos of Kirkaliotissa should look right at home in the church once it's done. Did you try the loukoumades at the dance night? My girls still talk about them.
