The Holy Church of Agios Neomartyros Ioannis of Monemvasiotis celebrated in Gouves, Laconiatranslated

On Wednesday, October 21, 2026, our Church honors the memory of Saint Neomartyr John of Monemvasiotis, who belongs to the choir of Laconian Saints. On the evening of the eve of the feast, in the eponymous Holy Church of Agios in Gouves, Laconia, the solemn High Priestly Vespers was celebrated with a congregation of the Most Reverend Metropolitan of Monemvasia and Sparta, Mr. Efstathios, and with the participation of several clergymen from the wider area. In his speech, the respected Pastor first spoke about the Saints of our Church, who are our simple guides and protectors. Next, he referred to the honored neomartyr Agios Ioannis, who is even today a model of deep faith and unyielding attitude.

This was followed by the procession through the streets of the village of the holy relics and the holy icon of the Saint, while prayers were held both in Gouvon Square and in front of the paternal house of Saint John, for the repose of the souls of his parents.
