Qualifying round of the Afanasyevsky intellectual tournament among pupils of Sunday schools of the Berezovsky deanerytranslated

On October 17, 2026, on the basis of the Sunday school of the Church of the Holy Apostles Peter and Paul in the city of Bereza, the qualifying round of the Afanasyevsky intellectual tournament was held among students of Sunday schools of the Berezovo deanery. 17 students took part in the intellectual competition.

This year’s tournament is timed to coincide with a significant date - the 80th anniversary of the birth of His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Rus'. Representatives of Sunday schools from the parishes of the Church of St. Michael the Archangel in Bereza, the Church of the Holy Apostles Peter and Paul in Bereza, the Church of St. Seraphim of Sarov in Beloozersk, and the Church of St. Simeon the Stylite in Ag. took part in the tournament. The format of the tournament included an individual Olympiad: each participant had to answer 30 questions dedicated to the life and service of Patriarch Kirill.

The tournament was observed by a commission consisting of: the dean of the churches of the Berezovsky district, Archpriest Georgy Nemshon, and the representative of the diocesan commission, Priest Dimitry Shkodyuk.
