The People of Mykonos Honored Saint Kyriakitranslated

July 8, 2026 · 1 min read

In the newly renovated Church of Saint Kyriaki in the village of Mykonos, Most Reverend Bishop Dorotheos II celebrated the Divine Liturgy last morning, accompanied by the Protopresbyter of the church, Emmanuel Galanakis, and the deacons, as numerous faithful Mykonians and visitors gathered. To them, Most Reverend Bishop Dorotheos II prayed that every day of their lives might be a “Kyriaki”—a day of joy and hope. Finally, he expressed gratitude and praised Protopresbyter Emmanuel Galanakis for his diligent care in preserving the church and his pastoral concern, as well as the choir, church council members, altar servers, and all collaborators for their meticulous preparation and organization of the patronal feast.

It is good that the church has been fundamentally renovated. Father Emanuel Galanakis has obviously worked hard to maintain it, well done. And the bishop's wish that our every day be like "Kuriaki" - it sounds simple and true.

It is nice that the church has been rebuilt from the ground up. Father Emanuil Galanakis really tried hard, you can see. And I like the bishop's wish that every day is "Sunday" for us, simple and true.

The church was renovated from scratch - this is always a joy. Father Emmanuel Galanakis, apparently, it was not in vain that he put so much effort into the content, well done. And I also like the Metropolitan’s wish that every day be like “Kyriaki” - simple and to the point.

It is nice when a church is repaired from the ground up. Father Emanuel Galanakis obviously put a lot of effort into the maintenance, you can see. And the Metropolitan's wish to be like "Kyriaki" every day is close to me - simple and true.

It's good that they renovated the church from the foundations. The great effort of Father Emmanuel Galanakis in maintenance is noticeable, and I liked the bishop's wish that each day be like “Kyriaki”, simple and with hope. I wish we could live it like this.

It's good that you noticed it too. Father Emmanuel has been behind every detail of that church for years, from the slabs to the icons. Have you ever been to Mykonos for the festival of Saint Kyriaki? It would be nice to be able to live each day with that simple hope that the bishop says.

Yes, I agree, the bishop's desire for every day to be like “Kyriaki” feels very real when one leaves mass with that peace. Father Emmanuel does show that he takes care of every last detail. Have you been able to visit any churches renovated like this in Greece?
