Anniversary Event for the 200th anniversary of the Exodus of Messolonghi in Galata Parishtranslated

With particular splendor and a large attendance of people, on Saturday July 11, 2026, in the open theater of the new settlement of Galata, the great anniversary event for the completion of two hundred years since the Heroic Exodus of the Free Besiegers (1826 – 2026) took place. The event was organized by the Holy Church of the Nativity of the Virgin Galata in collaboration with the Local Agencies, under the auspices of the Holy Metropolis of Aetolia and Acarnania, in the presence of His Eminence Metropolitan Mr. Damascenes. The event was opened with a welcome by the Vicar of the Holy Church, Father George Bimbos, who expressed his deep emotion. Addressing His Eminence, he emphasized that his Parish immediately responded to the planning of the Metropolis, so that the entire year 2026 could be declared an anniversary, considering it a sacred obligation to pay the due tribute to our immortal ancestors.
