Apostolos Siskos is moved: "The Virgin Mary performed Her miracle" – The medal for Greece and for the firefighterstranslated

The statement of the Greek swimming champion Apostolos Siskos, who, on the day of the great feast of the Assumption of the Theotokos, mentioned the Virgin Mary and dedicated his medal to the homeland and to the firefighters who are fighting these days a difficult battle with the fires, caused a particular emotion. The 21-year-old swimmer, after winning the silver medal in the 200m backstroke, again climbed the podium at the European Swimming Championships in Paris, winning the bronze medal in the 200m butterfly. With his excellent performances, he once again made Greece proud, while his words after the match were particularly moving.

Speaking to ERT, Apostolos Siskos referred to his effort in the final, underlining that he did not expect that he would manage to win another medal.

"I went crazy too now that I saw the time, I didn't expect it in any way. I went in hard, I had nothing to lose. I chased it until the last moment, I believed in it and I think I got it rightly," he said.
