The first baptisms in the city of Diego Suarez, Madagascartranslated

July 23, 2026 · 1 min read

With the blessing of His Beatitude the Pope and Patriarch of Alexandria and all Africa Mr. Theodore II, the first Holy Baptisms were held yesterday in the city of Diego Suarez, marking the new beginning of the Parish of the Most Great Brigadiers Michael and Gabriel. By the grace of God, the first new Orthodox Christians of the parish were reborn through Holy Baptism. As stated in the announcement of the Holy Diocese:

"We pray that this blessed day will be the beginning of a great missionary journey in this city, so that we can return many more times and lead many people to the path of salvation of our Lord and God Jesus Christ."

The Bishop, Mr. Nifon, said: "Particularly moved, I thank from the bottom of my heart all those who welcomed us with so much love, cordiality and hospitality."

After the celebration of the Holy Baptisms, a traditional meal followed, which was presented by the Bishop of Northern Madagascar in honor of the newly enlightened and all those present.

Thank God, the first baptisms in Diego Suarez. I wonder how many people were baptized yesterday and what their names are?
