New bill would protect mothers with surrogacy contracts from forced abortions Rep. Andy Ogles, R-Tennessee, introduced on July 21 a bill designed to protect pregnant mothers who are surrogates from being forced to have abortions.

The ‘‘ Preventing Forced Abortions Act of 2026 ” would prevent federal courts from forcing a woman to have abortion because of a surrogate contract; the act also requires that surrogate mothers still be compensated.

“No woman should ever be forced to murder a child because of a provision buried in a contract,” Ogles said in announcing the measure. “The Preventing Forced Abortions Act ensures that federal courts cannot enforce these coercive clauses or allow intended parents to withhold promised compensation when a surrogate mother chooses life.”

The pro-life advocacy group Susan B. Anthony Pro-Life America expressed support for the bill. Spokeswoman Marilyn Musgrave voiced support for the bill, saying : “Women should never be forced or coerced into having an abortion.”

Dobře, že ten zákon řeší i tu kompenzaci, aby žena nepřišla o peníze, když si vybere život. Vždycky mi připadalo šílené, že se v těch smlouvách dá vůbec napsat povinnost abortu. Doufám, že to projde, protože „žádná žena by neměla být nucena zabít dítě kvůli papíru“ je přesně ono.

Souhlasím, Pavel, ta kompenzace je důležitá, aby to nebylo jen prázdné gesto. U nás v Olomouci jsem slyšela od jedné známé, jak se surrogátky bojí i o základní lékařskou péči, když se něco pokazí. Doufám, že ten zákon projde, protože smlouva by neměla přebít svědomí.

Je suis d’accord avec Pavel, cette histoire de clause d’avortement forcé dans un contrat m’a toujours paru complètement folle. Au moins le projet de loi protège aussi la compensation, comme l’a dit Ogles, pour que la mère porteuse ne perde pas tout si elle choisit de garder l’enfant. Espérons que ça passe, on ne devrait pas pouvoir obliger une femme à ça à cause d’un bout de papier.
